I was waiting for Andy to chime in. Wondering about Gilligan and Bill too.

Gilligan went out on his boat, he'll be back in three hours.

Thanks, the three hour tour turned out longer than expected.

Anyway,

Here are my guesses

a 3 legged buffalo
18 over 17 buffalo
1877 Indian

Well guys, 2 days left. I think everyone has gotten a chance to play, so I'll plan to close out this contest early on Saturday.

Contest is over. Sorry for it being drawn out for so long, lol. Andy is the WINNER! Maeon almost nailed it right off the bat when he said 1923 SLQ. Bur Andy came closer with his guess of 1929 SLQ, because the coin is a 1927 Standing Liberty Quarter.
Congrats Andy. Let me know which half dollar you want as a prize. And thanks for playing everyone.

Well there was some luck. Actually I did put a little thought into the guess. Adam's hint about one of the early guesses being very close to right led me to think- Adam loves Walking Liberty halves- but that would be too easy. The Standing Liberty Quarter has some of the same style. It's one of those beautiful coins that if I saw it in the coin store I'd want to buy it- so I had a strong hunch it was a SLQ. Getting close to the year was luck. I just looked it up in the Redbook and picked a year at random.

Don't worry Kingpin. Maybe it's your turn to win next. It's definitely my turn to have a contest. I've been unusally lucky lately (well at least with coin contests) so it's time to give some back.
